Parents and Family Weekend at Michigan Tech will see more than 1,200 family members arrive in Houghton in the next few days. The weekend, a tradition of Michigan Tech, seeks to bring families up to the Copper Country to visit their Husky at their very far flung University.
Registered families at MTU represent all five colleges, with the College of Engineering having the lion’s share at 68%, followed by the College of Computing at 13%, College of Sciences and Arts, 7%, and Colleges of Business and Forest Resources and Environmental Sciences each at 6%.
Throughout the weekend, visiting families can enjoy the wonders and attractions of the Copper Country during the peak of autumnal colors. MTU will also be hosting athletic events, social gatherings and performances.
Two new offerings are appearing this year: the Waino Wahtera Center for Student Success has partnered with Keweenaw Boat Tours to offer exclusive brunch and dinner cruises for families and Huskies Family Weekend t-shirts are also available for purchase for the first time.
Michigan Tech eagerly awaits the families of the next generation of difference-makers that call Houghton home.
