The Copper Country Angel Mission will host a shoe distribution event Saturday to provide new sneakers to elderly residents throughout the region.
The program will offer 125 pairs of shoes available for pickup at the CCAM Calumet parking lot. The distribution begins at 11 a.m. and operates for three hours. Shoes include velcro straps for a secure fit and come in black and white colors.
Attendees will be able to try on shoes to ensure proper fitting before taking them home.
The Copper Country Angel Mission, established more than 20 years ago, works to uplift local residents facing financial hardship. Throughout the year, the nonprofit organizes various programs, including distributing backpacks to students and winter gear to Copper Country residents. The organization’s Calumet headquarters also operates a free store and food pantry open to the community.
The Angel Mission will close its storefront Wednesday to host an all-volunteer meeting before reopening.
