Breakwater Federal Credit Union announced Wednesday it has partnered with the Michigan Tech Muslim Student Association to offer a financial literacy workshop designed specifically for international students and their families.
The five-part series will help individuals and families become familiar with the U.S. financial system while building practical skills and confidence in managing their finances.
The series begins today on Michigan Tech’s campus in the Memorial Union Ballroom. The first session, “Financial Life in the U.S.,” will introduce attendees to banking basics they need to navigate life in America.
The program addresses a critical gap in financial education for international students, who often face unique challenges adapting to unfamiliar banking systems and financial practices. By providing tailored instruction, Breakwater FCU and the Muslim Student Association aim to empower participants with the knowledge and tools necessary for financial success during their time in the United States.
The series will begin with Financial Life in the U.S., a banking basics workshop on Thursday, September 3 at 5 p.m. in Michigan Tech’s MUB Ballroom B1 (207B1).
