The Eagle Harbor Shortcut Road will close for four days beginning July 6 as the Keweenaw County Road Commission replaces a culvert at the Jacobs Creek crossing at the intersection of Garden City Road and Eagle Harbor Shortcut Road.
The closure runs through July 9, immediately following the Fourth of July weekend. Eagle Harbor remains accessible to residents and visitors throughout the closure — drivers will need to follow posted detour signage in the area.
Travelers heading to Eagle Harbor or east on M-26 toward Copper Harbor should use the M-26 connection in Phoenix. Detour signage on US-41 near Phoenix will guide drivers before they reach the shortcut.
Motorists traveling south or west on M-26 from Copper Harbor should remain on M-26 to Eagle River, where detour signage will provide additional directions.
Residents living along the Eagle Harbor Shortcut Road can access M-26 and US-41 using Garden City Road west of the closure or Central Road east of the closure.
A detailed detour map is available online through the Keweenaw County Road Commission.
