High School
The Jeffers High School baseball team will face Marcellus in a state semifinal tomorrow morning in East Lansing. The Jets bring a 17-7 record into the contest. The Wildcats are 21-11. Our coverage will begin at 11:15 ahead of an 11:30 start on 97.7 The Wolf. Mount Pleasant Sacred Heart and Royal Oak Shrine Catholic will play in the other semifinal tomorrow at 9:30. The championship game is set for Saturday afternoon at 2:30, and we’ll broadcast it if the Jets advance.
Coaches of the teams in the recent Division Four regional softball tournament have selected an All-Region team. Pitcher Lucy Biekkola and third baseman Emery Chynoweth were included.
NBA
The Knicks came from 29 points down to edge the Spurs 107-106 last night. OG Anunoby’s tip-in off a Jalen Brunson three-point miss with one second remaining completed the comeback, which was the biggest in the history of the NBA finals. New York leads the championship series 3-1, with game five set for Saturday in San Antonio.
NHL
The Stanley Cup series continues tonight, as the Hurricanes host the Golden Knights. The final is tied 2-2.

MLB
The Tigers fell to the Twins 6-4 last night. Gleyber Torres had three of Detroit’s seven hits. Framber Valdez took the loss, allowing four runs over five innings. His earned run average inflated to 4.40.
The Tigers host the Twins again this afternoon. Keider Montero will start against Zebby Matthews. Coverage will begin at 12:45 on 99.3 The Lift.
Justin Verlander struggled with control in his second rehab start for the Mud Hens last night. He threw 86 pitches before leaving in the sixth inning, and gave up four solo home runs in Toledo’s 12-1 loss to the Saint Paul Saints. Verlander is recovering from hip inflammation. He’ll be evaluated today to see if he’s ready to rejoin the Tigers’ rotation.
Tarik Skubal and Casey Mize could be back as early as this weekend.
Closer Kenley Jansen made his first rehab appearance with the Mud Hens last night, and fared no better than Verlander. He gave up two runs in the seventh inning, while recording just two outs. He’s recovering from pelvic inflammation.
The Tigers have purchased the contract of journeyman reliever Jacob Waguespack from the Brewers. In 16 appearances with the Nashville Sounds this season, Waguespack has given up just four earned runs over 22 innings.
The Brewers couldn’t hold an early 3-0 lead, and dropped a 4-3 decision to the Athletics in Las Vegas last night. Carlos Cortes’ three-run homer off Chad Patrick in the seventh was the game-winner. Jackson Chourio and Gary Sánchez homered for Milwaukee.
The Brewers have today off, and welcome the Phillies tomorrow. Jacob Misiorowski will pitch against Andrew Painter.
Running

A registration and packet pick-up session will be held tonight from 5:00 until 8:00 at Queen City Running Company in Houghton.
You can also sign up and pick up packets tomorrow between 4:00 and 6:00 at the Keweenaw Co-Op in Hancock.
You can have someone else pick up your packet, if you wish.
The run begins tomorrow at 7:00 at the west edge of downtown Hancock, ahead of the annual Bridgefest Parade.
