The Michigan State Police Calumet Post has added a new trooper from the latest MSP Trooper Recruit School’s 61 graduates.
Trooper Landon Strzelewicz will join the team at the Calumet Post after recently completing his law enforcement education at the 150th trooper recruit school. While enrolled in the program, Strzelewicz earned the Academic Achievement Award for his classroom success, including an average score of 95% on tests and exams, giving him the top academic rank in the 150th graduating class.
Gov. Gretchen Whitmer said the 61 new troopers represent significant investments in public safety through bipartisan work on the state’s budget that included $1.6 billion to support police, firefighters and first responders.
“Officers learn from expert training staff, who provide them with the tools and knowledge necessary to make critical decisions to keep communities safe,” said Michigan State Police Director Col. James Grady.
Alongside Strzelewicz, three other troopers will begin working in the MSP eighth district at posts in Negaunee, St. Ignace and Wakefield.
