A change of season won’t affect anglers sinking a line into the water. From winter’s ice fishing tournaments throughout the summer, the Upper Peninsula plays host to many local fishing competitions.
The Lake Gogebic Tourism Association will kick off the new fishing season with its annual Lake Gogebic Walleye Opener Tournament on May 16. The single-day competition celebrates the start of a new walleye fishing season.
Inviting anglers from across the Upper Peninsula and communities near and far from the lake, the tournament promises plenty of fun both on and off the water. The event features music, food and activities for those staying on shore.
The tournament comes to the community in partnership with AJ Lodge and Oven.
Fishers interested in participating in the Lake Gogebic Walleye Opener Tournament can find more information online.
