The Rozsa Center helps Michigan Technological University keep its traditions with exciting concerts throughout the year. This weekend the Rozsa Center hosts the Michigan Tech Jazz Ensemble’s Don Keranen Jazz Festival.
The concert includes music played by students from the college’s Video Game Jazz Ensemble, the R&D Jazz Band, Jazztech, and the Jazz Lab Band. Each year the festival invites a special guest. In 2026 the Don Keranen Jazz Festival will include a performance from singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Braxton Cook.
Michigan Tech Jazz Studies Director Adam Meckler says bringing students to center stage fulfills dreams and offers exciting experiences to musicians enrolled in college. Assistant Teaching Professor Drew Kilpela will also help lead a performance during the Don Keranen Jazz Festival, joining Meckler, Cook, and the students this weekend.
Performances during the Don Keranen Jazz Festival at the Rozsa Center will begin on Friday with the backstage performance. The final show in the festival will move to the Orpheum Theatre in Hancock for the Workshop Brass Band’s show at 10 p.m.
