The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services announced plans to distribute $3.75 million across 10 grant awards that will establish youth-focused substance abuse programming.
Avoiding addictive behaviors becomes harder when individuals begin to abuse substances from an early age. The awards will support programming to prevent young people from engaging with alcohol, tobacco or other drugs.
The awards are available to nonprofit organizations, private and public entities, local health departments, federally recognized tribes in Michigan, urban Indian health clinics and universities. Programs will focus on supporting youth across the state from ages 12 to 17.
The grant program will close applications April 2. Those interested in learning more about the MDHHS grant funding opportunity can find details online.
