Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s recent commission appointments include two Upper Peninsula residents.
Alexander Kofsky from Marquette will join the Rural Development Fund Board. Kofsky is the executive director of Accelerate UP and succeeds previous board member Christopher Germain. He will serve a term from January 2027 to December 2030, joining Justin Horvath of Owosso as new additions to the board.
Mark Bomberg from Gladstone will join the Commission on Services to the Aging. Bomberg is a former director of long-term care programs in the region with the organization UPCAP. He will serve on the commission from July 2026 to July 2029.
The Rural Development Fund Board focuses on supporting economic development initiatives in rural Michigan communities. The Commission on Services to the Aging works to address issues affecting older adults throughout the state.
Both appointments reflect Whitmer’s commitment to including Upper Peninsula representation on state boards and commissions that impact regional interests.
