Laurium will receive $400,000 from the MSHDA Community Development Block Grant.
In an announcement Village Manager Ian Lewis shared on the Laurium Facebook page, the community will receive an award from the MI Neighborhood program. The grant program will support residential homeowners, qualifying with low to moderate incomes, completing energy efficiency and safety projects.
The program will support projects such as roof repairs, insulation installation, window and door replacement, improved heating systems, and accessibility upgrades. Laurium intends to split the funds among 20 projects.
On March 17, the village board of trustees will hold a public hearing on the CDBG $400,000 award. That hearing will begin at 6 p.m. inside the Village of Laurium Hall.
