Isle Royale National Park will open applications for the artist in residence programs. Each summer Isle Royale National Park invites artists from nearby and far away, young and old, to explore the inspiring vistas and unique landscape to create art.
After the new year applications will open on Jan. 2, and close Feb. 16. The Established Artist program asks for writers, composers, and visual and performing artists to take the opportunity to stay at the park for a 2-3 week residency. The Teen Exploration program, for aspiring artists, invites teens from 13 to 18 years old and a mentor to Isle Royale National Park. The Teen Exploration program runs for six days between July 24-29, 2026.
The program also introduces a third artist in residence program in celebration of America250 for emerging artists. That program seeks artists that will participate in a shared camping experience to immerse young artists early in their careers. That one week long program, from July 14 to the 22nd, will have mentors guide a selected cohort in artistic skills and professional development while exploring Isle Royale National Park.
