A pickup truck burst began to expel smoke at Houghton High School last night during the Houghton vs. Hancock volleyball game.
At about 8:00 p.m. on Oct. 22, the Houghton Fire Department was notified of a vehicle smoking in the parking lot of the high school, to which they quickly responded. The fire was contained to the engine bay of the truck, and although the problem was quickly doused, the car was effectively totaled.
Houghton Fire Chief Eric James commented that the cause of the incident could not be determined, but came after some repairs were performed on the engine.
