Michigan Tech’s Center for Outreach and Education is helping local students gear up for the fall with programs designed to prepare them for college while building valuable skills.
This year’s GEAR UP programs offer high school students opportunities to explore emerging technologies and gain competitive advantages in their academic pursuits. One of the center’s largest initiatives, CyberHusky, begins the year exploring artificial intelligence with middle school and high school students.
The CyberHusky program plans to participate in a variety of national and regional challenges, including the Congressional App Challenge and CyberPatriot. These competitions provide students with hands-on experience in cybersecurity and technology innovation while connecting them with peers across the country.
Beyond technology-focused programs, the center is encouraging students and families to mark their calendars for the Planning and Paying for College open house on Nov. 11. The free conference on Michigan Tech’s campus brings students and their families together with financial experts and college admissions officials to explore strategies for managing the costs of higher education.
The open house provides an invaluable opportunity for families to understand financial aid options, scholarship opportunities and planning strategies before making college decisions.
