The Tigers clobbered the Athletics 11-0 yesterday. Keider Montero allowed two hits over six innings to earn the win. James Outman homered. Eduardo Valencia had two doubles and drove in four runs.
After sweeping the A’s, the Tigers take today off, and begin a set at Seattle tomorrow night. Coverage will begin at 9:15 on 99.3 The Lift.
Brenan Hanifee is back with the Tigers. He was called up from Toledo to fill the roster gap left after Tarik Skubal’s trade to the Dodgers. The three prospects acquired in the trade are all headed to minor league assignments.
Jackson Jobe struck out five in a four-inning rehab start at High-A West Michigan yesterday. Jobe had been scheduled to start for Toledo, but a threat of rain forced a move to Grand Rapids. He’s recovering from Tommy John ligament replacement surgery. There’s still no timetable as to when he might be ready to rejoin the Tigers’ rotation.
The Tigers have added another pitching prospect to their minor league system. Jojo Ingrassia comes in from the Red Sox as the player to be named later in the Jahmai Jones trade. Ingrassia is 24 years old. He has pitched well at High-A Greenville this season, after missing most of last year with injuries.
The Brewers dropped a 3-0 decision to the Angels. Jacob Misiorowski gave up only two hits over seven innings, but one was a two-run homer. Milwaukee collected just five singles – two by Jackson Chourio.
The Brewers host the Pirates tonight. Brandon Sproat will start against Bubba Chandler.
The MLB trade deadline is this afternoon. Trades must be completed by 5:00 for players to be eligible for post-season rosters on their new teams.
