Many events this summer in the Keweenaw Peninsula will wrap up planning in the coming weeks. With so little time left until Juhannus, Bridgefest and more, there’s also little time left to show support before festivities begin.
Just after June, the Copper Country will celebrate the United States’ founding on Fourth of July weekend. South Range expects the community will join residents for a traditional parade, fun games and, of course, a fireworks show.
“Good, better fundraising so far is coming along and we’re receiving quite a few donations. Actually the cost of the fireworks went up 20 percent this year and we’re going to be held at the South Range VFW on Sunday May 17 from 12 noon to 5 p.m.,” said Mike Rainier, South Range Fourth of July Committee.
This Sunday, the South Range Fourth of July Committee hosts one of the last fundraisers before the Fourth of July in a couple of months. Events throughout the year help support the committee’s plans during the Fourth of July celebrations. Mike Rainier says this year’s support will go a long way to help afford the rising cost of fireworks.
