With the Keweenaw Peninsula looking forward to a few days of warmer temperatures, some might have already started to think about summer days in the sunshine.
Bridgefest celebrations in Houghton and Hancock bring plenty of fun and excitement to the area for locals and visitors to check out. But many events, activities, and fun could not happen without engaged businesses and community organizations.
“We’re in our 39th year of celebrating the two communities that it connects. Copper Shores really does a great job of giving back to the community. And this is right up the alley to get the community out there to celebrate,” said Katie Schlief, chamber manager for the Keweenaw Chamber of Commerce.
Keweenaw Chamber of Commerce Manager Katie Schlief shared Copper Shores will return as Bridgefest’s presenting sponsor. And Incredible Bank again sponsors the annual fireworks show. Many businesses will get involved in some way. And Schlief says it’s always great to see groups put together floats in the parade, or organize activities for kids.
“We do have a lot of these businesses that are showing up at our Touch the Truck event. We have Samara or Q and a crane. I mean, they’ll be in the parade and then they’ll bring over that equipment over to our Touch the Truck event that will be happening on Saturday. So they just get to interact with the community and the kids and it’s just an all around good thing. Come back and be involved,” said Katie Schlief, chamber manager for the Keweenaw Chamber of Commerce.
Many businesses have already signed up to sponsor the 2026 Bridgefest in the Keweenaw Peninsula. This year’s festival will move to June 11-14. Sponsors for Bridgefest can learn more online at bridgefestfun.com, or contact the Keweenaw Chamber of Commerce.
There’s also plenty of ways for individuals to get involved with Bridgefest too. The 39th annual community event will need volunteers to help at various activities, help with safety, and much more.
