The Houghton County Road Commission shares an important message for loaded trucks in coordination with other western Upper Peninsula road commissions.
Starting Wednesday, March 4, weight restrictions on loaded vehicles will drop to 65 percent of a normal load weight. Tractor-trailer trucks with a single axle towing a trailer with a single axle will set weight limits at 35,100 pounds. A single axle truck with a trailer with two axles will set a restriction of 44,200 pounds.
Spring load weight restrictions protect road infrastructure as the ground across the region begins to warm up as the Upper Peninsula enters spring.
Truck drivers with specific questions about their vehicles should contact the nearest road commission.
