Calumet will reschedule the date of the Red Jacket Ball, moving the sesquicentennial celebration event into 2026.
In the summer, the Village of Calumet began a series of celebrations to commemorate the community’s 150th anniversary. The village posted a statement Tuesday on its Facebook page announcing that after reviewing the timeline of events and plans in the village, it made sense to postpone the Red Jacket Ball to the village’s incorporation date.
The celebration will move to March with two events planned on the village’s incorporation day, March 19, and on March 20 to mark the Calumet Theatre’s anniversary. The village will have dinner catered by Keweenaw Coffee Works and expects to announce more details as the dates approach.
