High School
In high school hockey last evening…
- Calumet and Marquette skated to a 3-3 tie. After the Sentinals took a 1-0 lead, two goals by Robert Loukus and one by Rogan Gronlund gave the Kings a 3-1 lead going into the third period. Marquette scored twice to tie the contest, and the overtime period was scoreless. Each goalie stopped 29 shots. If you missed the broadcast, you can hear the replay here.
- Hancock smothered Manistique 8-0
- Jeffers outskated Kingsford 5-1.
In boys basketball last night…
- Hancock lost to Westwood 63-20.
- Lake Linden-Hubbell got past Ewen-Trout Creek 59-52.
- Chassell dispatched Watersmeet 75-55. Dayne Tarvis led the Panthers with 21 points. Grady Olson added 17, and Brayden Larson 14. Romeo Poler scored 18 for the Nimrods.
The Houghton swim teams split their meet against Kingsford yesterday, with the boys earning the win, and the girls falling short.
On the boys side, Anderson Limkemann and Tate Evans both qualified in the 200 IM and 100 breast, Evan Massaway qualified in the 100 fly and William Jiang qualified in the 200 IM. On the girls side, Evelyn LaTendresse qualified in the 200 IM and 100 free, Kayleigh Dart qualified in the 200 free and 100 free while winning both events, Shania Aepli qualified in the 100 back, Lydia Williams qualified in the 50 free, Aya Keteri qualified in the 500 free and Kaitlyn Coponen qualified in the 100 fly.
NHL
The Red Wings held off the Bruins 5-4 last night, and broke their four-game losing streak. Goals by James van Riemsdyk, Moritz Seider, Alex DeBrincat, Ben Chiarot and Lucas Raymond built a 5-2 advantage early in the third period. Boston got one back with five minutes remaining, then muscled in another with just 12 seconds left on the clock. John Gibson made 34 saves.
The Wings visit the Blue Jackets tomorrow night.

The Pistons visit the Bucks tonight, with coverage at 7:35 on 99.3 The Lift.
