Families, friends, and Calumet celebrated Croatian heritage over the weekend. Even before parking along Sixth Street, you could smell delicious smoke, herbs, and spices coming from the festival grounds. Many people enjoyed listening to folk music, while group dances entertained the audience in the afternoon. The day’s menu included ćevapčići, sarma, povitica, strudel, and fritule. Around the grounds, festival goers could purchase souvenirs to support the Croatian Fraternal Union, or the big Annie statue fund, and even learn about visiting Croatia from Robert Jerin. Into the evening, the festival moved to Shute’s next to the Calumet Theatre.
