Across the great lakes some might keep a special rock in their house. Or even a collection of gems and minerals. The Upper Peninsula’s geological history formed some unique minerals, gems, and rocks.
Starting today the Copper Country Rock and Mineral Club hosts its annual Gem and Mineral Show at Houghton Elementary School. A collector’s high point of the year, the show runs for three days and includes up to nine dealers. Most vendors coming from outside of the area, the Copper Country Gem and Mineral Show offers a wide variety of interesting items and documents.
The Copper Country Gem and Mineral Show also plans to conduct a treasure hunt. Where kids can use metal detectors to search for copper and metal artifacts in a pile of sawdust.
