The Keweenaw Community Foundation launched a new stewardship fund supporting land conserved by the Keweenaw Land Trust. On Monday the Keweenaw Community Foundation announced the establishment of the Marsin Wetlands Stewardship Fund supporting the 10-acre wetland habitat owned by the Keweenaw Land Trust.
The Marsin Nature Area in Stanton Township is a critical natural resource providing habitat for a diverse range of wildlife and fauna species. The endowed fund will ensure the protection of the conservation land and designate the Keweenaw Land Trust as the property steward with the responsibility to maintain sustainable financial resources for the area. The Keweenaw Land Trust is a non-profit organization committed to conserving lands and waters in the Keweenaw peninsula and focused efforts on protecting natural habitats and enhancing public access to outdoor space. The Marsin Wetlands is one of many properties the land trust manages throughout the region.
