The summit of Lake Fife was discovered approximately 12 miles north of Lake Michigan in late October. The cause of the fire remains under investigation. The Yellow Dog Trailhead remains closed at this time.
Results are in for the Keweenaw Bay Indian Community Primary Election. On Saturday KBIC tribe members chose four representatives from a selection of 10 candidates.
Tony Loonsfoot led the pack with 127 votes, followed by Sue Ellen Elmblad with 112 ballots cast. They will be joined on the KBIC council by Larry Denomie III and Patrick E. Racette who each earn 47 votes. All four will represent the Baraga district.
