Go Downhill Fast at the Yooper Luge!

The annual Yooper Luge will be held in downtown Houghton on Saturday, February 17th. Isle Royale Street will be filled with snow, and you’re invited to build a sled and compete.

Registration opens at 12:30. There is no charge, but contestants must register. The competition starts at 1:00 p.m. with open sledding following the competition. Prizes will be given out for distance,best decorated, most creative design, and most spectacular wipeout. KBear 102.3’s own Todd VanDyke will be the emcee again this year.

Sleds may be made out of the following material: plastic, cardboard, duct tape, glue, tin foil, shower curtain, garbage bags. Materials NOT permitted: wood, metal, fiberglass and aluminum. Judges may inspect any and all entries. Helmets are required for participants 17 and under. Helmets are recommended for participants 18 and older. Get complete rules from the City of Houghton.
